Product Details

This is a extremely rare and one of the most unique oysters from the 50s. The ‘Tru-Beat’ was one of the first dead-seconds wristwatches ever offered.
Could it get any better?
Yep - this watch is coming directly from the son of the original owner! Such a rare find and a unique watch in the vintage market!

The current owner’s grandmother bought the watch from Bucherer in Zurich in the early 1960s, as a gift for his father. This indicates that the watch spent some years in the store, proving sales were not quick! It has been worn carefully over the years and remains in astonishing condition.

Instead of the sweeping seconds hand that one normally sees on a mechanical watch, dead-seconds calibres tick once per second.
What sounds very simple is incredibly complicated and requires a new escapement that allows one jump per second of the seconds hand instead of the usual five ‘beats'.
The watches were marketed to medical professionals to accurately calculate a patient’s pulse. The complications works via the cross hair on the dial, showcasing a 15 seconds interval.

It is really rare to see one of these watches survive as they are only produced in small numbers and servicing is very complicated, parts are scarce. It is said that even Rolex converted some to regular movements.
The case remains in great condition.
The silver dial remains in excellent original condition and the watch has a red seconds hand and alpha hour and minute hands, which are also rare and very elegant.
The rivet link Oyster bracelet reference 7205 is in very good condition and has ref 57 endlinks and a clasp stamped ‘4 64’. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.

It is incredibly special to find a good condition Tru-Beat since they almost never come to market. It is even more special to find a fully functioning example and incredibly special to find one from the original owner which is a fresh watch to the market! Get it touch to discuss this watch more.
